Webflow is a web design tool that works without the need for programming. It uses an intuitive “drag and drop” system, which makes this web creation tool apparently easy to use. However, when you start using it, you realize that to master Webflow, you need to have in-depth knowledge in web design. Its complexity should not deter its use, as it has many advantages such as freedom of creation, adherence to SEO standards, the ease of site evolution, a well-designed CMS for effective data management, and the possibility of collaborative work thanks to its editor mode.

Fortunately, Webflow differs from Wordpress by its ease of access, thanks to an intuitive and simple code-free tool: editor mode.

What is editor mode on Webflow?

Webflow's editor mode is specially designed to facilitate the management of web content. It allows the content of a site to be developed without requiring specific web design skills. This mode is characterized by a clean and easy to understand interface, without the complexities of an advanced dashboard.

In this mode, it is easy to create and modify text, images, and links on static pages, but also to quickly generate new content via dynamic CMS pages. Multiple team members can have access to this mode, which improves content management on Webflow.

Benefits of Webflow editor mode

Sleek interface

No specific web design skills are required, making it very easy for all team members to use.

Essential features

This mode focuses on content management, allowing you to add, delete, or modify texts, images, blog posts, etc.

Compliance with SEO standards

Each user can access key SEO features, such as adding meta titles and descriptions, optimizing URLs, adding open graphics, and more.

Access to data

The editor mode offers a complete overview of the site's pages, whether static or dynamic, and direct access to data from web forms, thus ensuring that no contact request is missed. A history of recent changes is also available.

Accessibility

Access to editor mode is direct from any page on the website by adding/? edit to the URL.

security

Unlike Wordpress, Webflow's editor mode does not allow you to modify the structure of the page in such a way as to damage the site.

Creating a publisher account on Webflow

To create a publisher account, the webdesigner must add your email in the Webflow project settings. You will receive an email from Webflow to create your account. Once created, you access the editor's feature bar at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit Webflow web pages directly.

Access to editor mode requires at least the subscription to the Webflow CMS package. For more information, see Webflow's prices and features.

Edit content on a static page with editor mode

Although static pages cannot be duplicated via editor mode, their content can be modified by changing texts, images, and links. It can be accessed by clicking on the “Pages” tab on the Webflow editor bar.

Edit content on a dynamic page with editor mode

Editor mode provides access to all pages, sections, and dynamic data on the site. Creating new pages or sections such as blog posts or job offers is simple and straightforward via the “Collections” tab.

SEO optimization for a static Webflow page

Editor mode allows you to optimize SEO settings, improve URL slugs, add titles, meta descriptions, thumbnails, and enrich the appearance of pages when shared on networks thanks to open graphics.

SEO optimization for a dynamic Webflow page

Dynamic pages, pre-configured by the webdesigner, allow easy SEO optimization thanks to predefined fields. If these settings are not available, it is a good idea to ask your developer to integrate them.

Adding and removing Webflow editors

While adding new publisher accounts is easy, it cannot be done through the publisher account itself. You have to connect to the Webflow project in developer mode to make these changes.

Webflow editor access with a site

We recommend using editor mode, aware of the complexity of the Webflow designer. The sites created are therefore equipped with numerous dynamic sections to facilitate the accessibility and autonomy of customers in the management of their site.

Examples of actions that can be performed in editor mode without code:

  • Create a blog post
  • Add a team member
  • Create a podcast
  • Add and edit texts and videos
  • Optimize the SEO of pages
  • Edited images
